A diploma programme preparing skilled healthcare providers to deliver nursing, midwifery, and community-based health services in the settings where they're needed most — from district hospitals to rural health posts.
The Community Health Nursing and Midwifery Technician (CHNMT) diploma programme at Mulanje Mission College trains healthcare providers to deliver nursing and midwifery care with a strong emphasis on community-level health service delivery. Graduates are equipped to work at the frontline of Malawi's health system — in district hospitals, health centres, and rural outreach posts — where access to specialised care is limited and community-based skills matter most.
Alongside core nursing and midwifery training, the programme places particular focus on disease prevention, maternal and child health, immunization outreach, and health education — preparing graduates to serve both in clinical settings and out in the communities they support. Students train under experienced healthcare educators and clinical mentors, with practical placements at Mulanje Mission Hospital and affiliated community health facilities.
Graduates are eligible to register with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi (NMCM) and practice as qualified Community Health Nursing and Midwifery Technicians.
Building the essential knowledge base in biological sciences and basic nursing care.
